If you often switch off your smartphone at night to give it some rest do remember that such “rest periods” don’t do any good to your cell phone.

“I would say that shutting down your phone at night isn’t something that necessarily falls under routine maintenance,” observes iFixit founder Kyle Wiens, a technology expert.

According to Wiens, shutting your smartphone off won’t necessarily help save your battery.

“Batteries in phones have a finite lifespan — the more that you use them, the faster that battery wears out,” he says.

In general, smartphone batteries have a life of between 300 to 500 full-charge to fully-discharged cycles. And even if you only use a fraction of your phone’s battery and then recharge it to 100 percent, that still counts towards a full cycle.

“If you wear your battery down 50 percent then charge it back up, that’s half a cycle,” says Wiens.

Powering down your smartphone at night won’t help preserve the battery, since it’s unlikely that you would be using the device at that time, anyhow.

“It comes to how hard you use your phone,” says Wiens. For instance, if you’re constantly streaming music, watching videos, or using it as a Global Positioning System (GPS) device while mounted on a car’s sun-soaked dashboard (heat kills batteries too), your phone’s power won’t last very long.

Instead, what you can do, advises Wien, is periodically drain your battery to zero percent and let your smartphone die.

“If you run your battery all the way down to zero every once in a while — once a year is fine — it makes the percentage count,” says the tech expert.

নিঝুমদ্বীপ যাওয়ার কথা ভাবছেন বা মনে মনে আছে যাবেন যাবেন। তাহলে তাদের জন্য বলি বিশ্বাস করেন এটাই বেষ্ট টাইম। লেখাটা অনেক বড় যারা যাবেন বা ভবিষ্যতে যাওয়ার প্ল্যান করছেন তারা সময় নিয়ে পড়বেন আশা করি।
বঙ্গোপসাগরের কোলে উত্তর ও পশ্চিমে মেঘনার শাখা নদী, আর দক্ষিণ এবং পূর্বে সৈকত ও সমুদ্র বালুচরবেষ্টিত ছোট্ট সবুজ ভূখণ্ড নিঝুম দ্বীপ.। অগণিত শ্বাসমূলে ভরা কেওড়া বাগানের এক সবুজ এই দ্বীপকে। দিনে দুবার জোয়ার-ভাটার এই দ্বীপের এক পাশ ঢেকে আছে সাদা বালুতে, আর অন্য পাশে সৈকত। নিঝুম দ্বীপের সবচেয়ে আকর্ষণীয় বিষয় হলো মাইলের পর মাইল জুড়ে কেওড়া বন আর সেই বনের পাতার আড়ালে লুকিয়ে থাকা চিত্রা হরিণ।  বঙ্গোপসাগরের কোলে সম্প্রতি আরো একটি অনিন্দসুন্দর সমুদ্র সৈকত জেগে উঠেছে। সৈকতটি একেবারে আনকোরা, কুমারী। স্থানীয়ভাবে যাকে এখন ডাকা হচ্ছে 'ভার্জিন সি বিচ' বলে।হাতিয়া উপজেলার বঙ্গোপসারের কোল ঘেঁষা নিঝুম দ্বীপ সংলগ্ন দমার চরের দক্ষিণপ্রান্তে অবস্থিত। নিঝুম দ্বীপের লোকজন এবং মাছ ধরতে যাওয়া লোকেরা এই নয়নাভিরাম সৈকতকে বলে ‘দেইলা’ বা বালুর স্তুপ। তাদেরকে আজ পর্যন্ত কেউ বলেনি যে আসলে এটা একটা সমুদ্র সৈকত। যা কিনা কক্সবাজরের সমুদ্র সৈকতের চেয়েও অনেক বেশী সুন্দর এবং আকর্ষনীয়। যা এখনো অনেক ট্যুরিস্ট এর কাছেই অজানা।
ঢাকা থেকে নিঝুমদীপ ।
 কিভাবে যাবেনঃ বাসে করে গেলে প্রথমে হিমাচল, একুশে অথবা একুশে মুন পরিবহনের বাসে যেতে হবে নোয়াখালীর সোনাপুরে, প্রতিদিন মোটামুটি সকাল দুপুর ও সন্ধ্যায় সায়েদাবাদ বাস টার্মিনাল থেকে নোয়াখালীর সোনাপুর এর দিকে বাস ছেড়ে যায়, আবার ধানমন্ডি জিগাতলা কাউন্টার থেকে ফকিরাপুল হয়ে একুশে পরিবহনের বাস ছাড়ে রাত ১০.২০ মিনিট।
আপনি ট্রেনে যেতে পারেন নোয়াখালীর মাইজদি পর্যন্ত। ঢাকা কমলাপুর থেকে বৃহস্পতি বার বাদে, প্রতিদিন বিকাল ৪.২০ মিনিট এ ৭১২ নং আন্তঃনগর উপকুল এক্সপ্রেস নোয়াখালী এর দিকে ছেড়ে যায়, মাইজদি পৌঁছে রাত ১০.২২ মিনিট। ভাড়া - স্নিগ্ধা - ৫০৩ টাকা, প্রথম চেয়ার - ৩৫৫ টাকা, শোভন চেয়ার - ২৭০ টাকা, শোভন - ২৩০ টাকা।
নোয়াখালীর সোনাপুর / মাইজদি থেকে লোকাল বাস বা সিএনজিতে করে, সি এন জি সারাদিন চলে ভাড়া জনপ্রতি ১০০-১১০ টাকা চেয়ারম্যান ঘাটে।
চেয়ারম্যান ঘাট থেকে সি-ট্রাক, ট্রলার ও স্পীড বোট ছাড়ে হাতিয়ার উদ্দেশ্যে, সি-ট্রাক ছাড়ে প্রতিদিন সকাল ৮ টায় নম্বর-০১৭৫৬৮৪৬১০৬ ভাড়া জনপ্রতি - ৮০ টাকা, ট্রলার - ১২০ - ১৫০ টাকা ভাড়া প্রতিজন ও স্পীড বোট জনপ্রতি ভাড়া - ৪০০-৫০০ টাকা। যাত্রীদেরকে নামাবে হাতিয়ার নলচিরা ঘাটে, নলচিরা থেকে বেবিটেক্সিতে (৬০০-৭০০) করে যেতে হবে মোক্তারিয়া ঘাটে, সরাসরি নলচিরা ঘাট থেকে মোটর সাইকেল রিজার্ভ করে মোক্তারিয়া ঘাট এ যাওয়া যায় ভাড়া দুই জন ৩৫০ - ৪৫০ টাকা, দর দাম করে নিবেন। সেখান থেকে ট্রলারে ১৫ মিনিট লাগবে নিঝুম দ্বীপের বন্দরটিলা ঘাটে ভাড়া জনপ্রতি - ১০ টাকা। এরপর আপনি যদি নামার বাজার থাকেন তবে ভ্যান/রিক্সা/মোটর সাইকেল এ যেতে হবে। ভাড়া ৮০-১০০ টাকা মটরসাইকেল দুইজন। বন্দর টিলায় ও থাকতে পারেন আপনি তবে নামার বাজার থাকা বেস্ট। নলচিরা থেকে নোয়াখালী চেয়ারম্যান ঘাট যাওয়ার ফিরতি সী ট্রাক ছাড়ে সকাল ১১ টায়।
থাকার ব্যবস্থাঃ
নিঝুম দ্বীপে নামার সাথে সাথে মোটর সাইকেল ওয়ালা রা আপনাকে ঘিরে ধরবে, তাদের নিয়ে যাওয়া কোন হোটেল এ যাবেন না।
১. নিঝুম রিসোর্ট (অবকাশ হোটেল) নামার বাজারঃ এটা অবকাশ পর্যটন লিমিটেড এর একটা রিসোর্ট। নামার বাজার সী বীচ এর কাছে অবস্থিত। নিঝুম রিসোর্ট নামে নিঝুম দ্বীপে থাকার জন্য একটি ভালো মানের রিসোর্ট। এর ম্যানেজার সবুজ ভাই অত্যান্ত ভালো মানুষ। খুব ই হেল্প ফুল এন্ড ফ্রেন্ডলি।
এখানে ২ বেড এর VIP রুম ভাড়া ২০০০ টাকা, ২ বেড এর Executive রুম ভাড়া ১৫০০ টাকা, ৩ বেড এর Executive রুম ভাড়া ১৮০০ টাকা, ৪ বেড এর Executive রুম ভাড়া ২০০০ টাকা, ৫ বেড এর ফ্যামিলি রুম ভাড়া ৩০০০ টাকা এবং ৫ বেড এর ডরমেটরি রুম ভাড়া ১৮০০ টাকা ও ১২ বেড এর ডরমেটরি রুম ভাড়া ৩০০০ টাকা।
* সব গুলো রুম এ এটাচ বাথ রুম আছে।

এই বোর্ডিং-এ কোনো এটাচ্ট বাথরুম এবং জেনারটরের ব্যবস্থা নাই। এখানে ২টি কমন বাথরুম এবং একটি টিউবওয়েল আছে।

খাবার দাবারঃ
সামুদ্রিক মাছ, মাংস, মোটা চালের ভাত, রুটি সব ই পাবেন, তবে প্রি - অর্ডার করে রাখা ভালো। খবার খাবেন আমার সাজেস্ট মতে আলতাফ চাচার হোটেল আশিক সেকেন্ড অপশন হোটেল দ্বীপ সম্পদ, (সৈয়দ চাচার খাওয়ার হোটেল), নামার বাজার। সামুদ্রিক মাছ এবং চিংড়ী খাবেন ভালো লাগবে। রাতের বেলা নিঝুম রিসোর্ট এর ম্যানেজার সবুজ ভাইকে মুরগী/কোরাল মাছ অথবা ইলিশ মাছ কিনে দিন আর মশলা, লাকড়ি এর জন্য কিছু টাকা খরচ দিয়ে দিন, উনি বার বি কিউ এর ব্যাবস্থা করবে, সব ইন্সট্রুমেন্ট নিঝুম দ্বীপ এ একমাত্র উনার কাছেই আছে, উনি এক্সপারট ও বটে।
দর্শনীয় জায়গাঃ
১. চৌধুরী খাল ও কবিরাজের চর । যেতে হবে বিকেল এ সন্ধ্যার আগে, চৌধুরীর খাল নেমে ঘন্টা খানেক হাঁটলেই বনের মধ্যে হরিন এর পালের দেখা পেতে পারেন। একটা ট্রলার রিজার্ভ নিন ১০-১৫ জনের গ্রুপ এর জন্য ১০০০-১২০০ টাকা ওরাই হরিন দেখিয়ে আনবে, সন্ধ্যার সময় কবিরাজের চর এ নেমে সূর্যাস্ত ও হাজার হাজার মহিষের পাল দেখতে ভুলবেন না।
২. চোয়াখালি ও চোয়াখালি সী-বিচ । চোয়াখালি তে গেলে খুব সকালে হরিন দেখা যায় । মটর সাইকেল ওয়ালাকে বলে রাখুন খুব সকালে আপনাকে হোটেল থেকে নিয়ে হরিন দেখিয়ে আনবে । আমাদের মত লাক ভালো থাকলে সকাল ৫ টায় ঘুম থেকে উঠে ব্রাশ করতে করতে নিঝুম রিসোর্ট এর বারান্দা থেকেও হরিন দেখতে পারবেন ২/৪ পিস :D
৩. ম্যানগ্রোভ বন । নিঝুম দ্বীপ বনায়ন প্রকল্প । নিঝুম দিপে ছোট ছোট পোলাপাইন রা গাইড এর কাজ করে, এদের সাথে নিয়ে সকাল বেলায় বনের ভেতর ঢুকে পড়ুন। হরিন দেখতে পারবেন।
৪. নামার বাজার সী-বিচ। নামার বাজার থেকে হেঁটে যেতে ১০ মিনিট লাগে। এখান থেকে সূর্য উদয় ও সূর্যাস্ত দেখতে পাবেন, এখানে বারবিকিউ করে মজা পাবেন।
৫. দমার চর । এই চরের দক্ষিন দিকে নতুন একটা সী বিচ আছে যাকে বলে "ভার্জিন আইসল্যান্ড" । এখানে অনেক নাম না জানা পাখির দেখা পাবেন খুব সকালে যদি যান। অনেক টুরিস্ট দের কাছে এখনও অজানা এই জায়গাটা। ট্রলার ভাড়া ৩০০০-৩৫০০ টাকা। ট্রলার এর মাঝির নম্বরঃ জাকির - ০১৭৮৭ ৬০৫ ৪৪৪ (ভালো মানুষ তবে ভাড়া একটু বেশি চায়, নিঝুম রিসোর্ট এর ম্যানেজার সবুজ ভাইয়ের হেল্প নিয়ে ভাড়া ঠিক করে ফেলুন)।
৬. নামার বাজার থেকে বন্দরটিলা আসার পথেই ১ নাম্বার শেল্টারের পাশ দিয়ে জমি পার হয়ে দেখে আসতে পারেন বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র মরুদ্যান এর রেপ্লিকা।

যোগ্যতা

বিজ্ঞান, বাণিজ্য বা শিল্পকলা বিষয়ে স্নাতক পাস প্রার্থীরা আবেদন করতে পারবেন। সংশ্লিষ্ট ক্ষেত্রে ন্যূনতম পাঁচ বছরের অভিজ্ঞতাসম্পন্ন হতে হবে। ইংরেজি ও বাংলা ভাষায় লিখিত, মৌখিক ও পাঠ করার ক্ষেত্রে লেভেল চার সমমানের পারদর্শিতা থাকতে হবে।

বেতন

নিয়োগপ্রাপ্তদের প্রতিমাসে ৬৯ হাজার টাকা বেতন দেওয়া হবে।

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for performing a comprehensive range of secretarial duties and administrative/ clerical functions connected with the programming activities of four Public Diplomacy Officers and the Cultural Affairs Office. Responsible for data input and all paper flow related work for a full range of professional, academic, citizen and youth exchange programs. Serves as primary backup user of contact database, coordinating guest lists and invitations. Serves as primary backup for PAO Secretary and for PA time and attendance. Coordinates travel requests, vouchers, vehicle requests, expendable supplies, and facilities maintenance requests for PAS. Serves as the Public Affairs sub-cashier.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Commerce, or Science (U.S. equivalent college studies) is required. (You must attach a copy of your bachelor’s degree certificate along with your application form.)

সন্ধ্যার পর পাড়া গাঁয়ের চা দোকান গুলোতে "কথার হাঁট" বসে। এক কাপ চা বা একটা বিড়ি হাতে টুলের উপর পা তুলে হাঁটু ভেঙ্গে "দ" এর মত করে বসে ঘন্টার পর ঘন্টা তুমুল আলোচনা চলে। সামনে একটা টিভিও চলে(গ্রামের দিকে চায়ের দোকানের পূর্বশর্ত হল-ডিশ টিভি)।
এদের আলোচনার বিভিন্ন দিকের মধ্যে গ্রামে কার মেয়ে কোন ছেলের সাথে বাড়ীর পিছনে দেখা করেছে এটা সম্ভবত সবচেয়ে রসালো দিক।কারণ এটা বলার সময় তৃপ্তি নিয়ে চারপাশে তাকিয়ে মাথা নাড়িয়ে নিচু গলায় বলতে দেখেছি। এছাড়াও তাদের আলোচনায় সামাজিক-রাজনৈতিক-ধর্মীয়-অর্থনৈতিক সবকিছু স্থান পায়, যেদিন যে টপিক আলোচনায় উঠে।
সারাদিন রিকশা চালিয়ে বা মাঠে কাজকরে সন্ধ্যায় চায়ের দোকানে বসে আমেরিকার নির্বাচনসহ অন্যান্য ভূ-রাজনীতি নিয়ে তুমুল তর্ক করাটা তাদের প্রাত্যহিক রুটিন, যাদের এসবের আদৌ কোন মূল্য বা প্রভাব নেই।
তবুও এরা একটা গ্রুপ হয়ে নির্দিষ্ট দোকানে আড্ডা দেয়। দেশ এবং বর্হিবিশ্বের বিভিন্ন ইস্যুতে তাদের প্রায় সবারই নিজস্ব আজগুবি ধরনের পক্ষপাতদুষ্ট স্পষ্ট মতামত থাকে, আর এ মতামত দেয়ার সময় তাদের মধ্যে খুব জ্ঞানী একটা ভাব ফুটে উঠে, যেন এ বিষয়টা খুব সিক্রেট, একমাত্র সেই মূল ব্যাপারটা জানে, বাকিরা ধইঞ্চা।
যাইহোক, এসব তর্ক-বির্তকের ক্ষেত্রে দোকানদারের মতের দাম বেশী। যেহেতু দোকানদারের সাথে ঝগড়ার ফলাফল টিভি বন্ধ বা দোকান থেকে বের হয়ে যাওয়া, একারণবশত তাকে একটু বেশী জ্ঞানী মানতে হয়। তবে সত্য একটা ব্যাপার হলো- একজন চায়ের দোকানদারের কাছে অনেক বাড়ির গোপন খবর পাওয়া যায়।
আরো একটা আজব ব্যাপার হলো, গ্রামে কেউ ভালো কোন অবস্থান, নেতা বা ধনী হয়ে গেলে  আড্ডাবাজ শ্রেণির কমন একটা মন্তব্য হলো- আরে! এটার বাপ/দাদা আমাদের বাড়িতে জাগির থাকতো, কামলা খাটতো বা আমাদের বাড়ির পান্তাভাত খেয়ে এরা আজ বড়লোক ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি....
প্রয়োজনীয় সত্য-মিথ্যার সংমিশ্রণের এই অতীতটাই সময়ের সাথে পিছিয়ে পড়া এই শ্রেণির অহংকার বা গর্ব করা একমাত্র অবলম্বন।
#ধারণা করা হয়, গ্রামের এই "কথার হাঁট" শহরে গিয়ে "টক শো" হয়েছে। উপকরণ সবই আগের, চায়ের কাপ, মূল্যহীন তর্ক-বিতর্ক! শুধু একটু ডিজিটাল হয়েছে।
আর "টক শো" রাত এগারটায় শুরু হয় যাতে তার আগেই গ্রামের টকশোবিদরা ঘুমিয়ে পড়। সন্ধ্যায় শুরু করলে জাতি ক্ষতির সম্মুখীন হবে ভেবে জ্ঞানীরা এই সিদ্ধান্তে উপনীত।
